Who We Are
Noisy Classroom- Oracy started in 2020 after we observed the impact of oracy across schools in the UK.
We strongly believe that learning to speak with confidence is at the heart of effective communication. Oracy skills help students to articulate their ideas in a clear and logical way; in turn, this helps students to make sense of their own thought processes. Developing speaking skills is also invaluable in building vocabulary and improving accuracy in grammar. Students that can express themselves clearly will have increased self-esteem in their ability to communicate, and as a result will find it easier to manage university interviews, work meetings or challenging debates.

Children need to learn about the social elements of talk, the expression of feelings, the development of relationships and how additional aspects, such as body language, work together with talk in order to develop such relationships and affect or sharpen communication.
Why We Chose Oracy
Oracy Station
Programme Overview

The Oracy Station programme consists of 10 dynamic classes per term, each covering a specific teaching point. Our curriculum is built around Voice 21's Oracy Skills Framework: linguistic, physical, cognitive, social and emotional.
Specifically, Oracy Station programme will:
-
Build pupils’ confidence and self –belief to enable them to speak in front of an audience of people, expressing their own ideas and opinions fluently with well-structured narratives, descriptions and explanations.
-
Help pupils learn how to speak in a focussed way, developing their narrative without straying onto random thoughts.
-
Encourage the use of articulate, persuasive language with a broad vocabulary.
-
Show pupils how to gain, maintain and monitor the interest of their listeners.
-
Develop the ability to construct a reasoned argument, and begin to develop skills of debating including listening, responding and rebutting an argument in an appropriate manner.
-
Encourage children to apply the skills learned in less formalised, two-way conversations and team working: speaking, listening, initiating and responding to comments in a relevant and appropriate way.
